In the past two years, two album covers have drawn inspiration from Shel Silverstein’s cover illustration for his 1974 children’s collection, Where the Sidewalk Ends. The first is MidaZ the Beast’s 2020 project Where the Sidewalk Ends, which has an adaptation by Gift Revolver.
This year brought an adaptation by Urcromo for Mavi’s End of the Earth…at least until Mavi decided to use a different Urcromo illustration for its vinyl release. (Complicating matters, he’s using a third Urcromo illustration for the current streaming version.) Since Mavi confirmed in interviews that his EP was inspired by Silverstein’s book, it’s unclear why he made the switch.
