Just Four - Jam to Remember

The 50 Best Rap Singles of 1982: Just Four

On this somewhat anonymous single, three MCs flow hard over a ruddy but firm interpolation of Shalamar’s “Night to Remember."

“Jam to Remember” (Grand Groove)

Little is known about Just Four’s “Jam to Remember.” Released on Brad Osborne’s Grand Groove Records, it features Tricky Tee and CC, who separately recorded 12-inches for Peter Brown’s P&P operation; as well as a third MC (Little J?) and a DJ that doesn’t seem to do much (Teenage Blade?). Regardless, the three MCs flow hard over a ruddy but firm interpolation of Shalamar’s “Night to Remember” made by arrangers Wayne Braithwaite and Glen Adams. Meanwhile, engineer Bob Blank gives the proceedings a bright polish. Tricky Tee apparently left the group for a solo career, and landed at Sleeping Bag Records. The rest of Just Four released sporadic singles throughout the decade.
